"Training for Multi-tasking: Preparing a Web-based Tutorial"

Prof. Beth Evans, Brooklyn College

A challenge at the Brooklyn College Library has been making multi-task work stations available to students in the new Library Internet Cafe. Librarians need to be prepared to support not only database searching but also student use of application software. Beth Evans prepared a Web-based tutorial on the licensed databases available through the library as well as for use in other CUNY libraries. This presentation will highlight the process of creating the online tutorial.

"Using Reference Manager and ProCite for Bibliographies"

Prof. Marvie Brooks, John Jay College

Prof. Maria Kiriakova, John Jay College

Prof. Linda Roccos, College of Staten Island

With the acquisition of Current Contents Connect by CUNY libraries and its availablity for faculty use off campus through the Proxy Service, there is a need to provide training in its best use. The extensive search capabilities of the product can be enhanced by downloading the retreived references directly to a bibliographic database. Reference Manager and ProCite are software products that offer this direct connection from the web to your own research bibliography.
